Lintels
Lintel Repair & Replacement
The steel or stone lintel over a window or door carries the brick above it. When a steel lintel rusts, it swells and pushes the brick up and out, leaving cracks and sagging courses. C&M Concrete & Masonry replaces failing lintels across Bucks, Montgomery, Lehigh and Northampton Counties and resets the masonry above them.

Signs Your Lintel Needs Attention
Lintel problems get worse every winter, as water gets into the rust and the cracks. Catching them early keeps the repair smaller.
Step Cracks
Cracks running up from the corners of a window or door opening.
Rust Showing
Rust stains or flaking steel visible above the opening.
Sagging Brick
Brick courses that dip or bow above a window or door.
Sticking Windows

Gaps at the Frame

How We Replace a Lintel
The wall above is supported the whole time, so nothing moves while the old lintel comes out.
Support the Wall
Temporary supports hold the masonry above the opening.
Remove
The brick over the lintel is taken down and the old lintel removed.
Install
A new galvanized or primed steel lintel is set, with flashing to shed water.
Reset & Repoint
The brick is relaid, matched where needed, and the joints repointed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Don’t see your question?
(267) 371-7321
01
Can a rusted lintel be repaired instead of replaced?
Light surface rust can sometimes be cleaned and painted. Once the steel has swollen or lost thickness, replacing it is the lasting fix.
02
Will the new brick match?
We reuse the existing brick wherever it comes out in good shape and match mortar color as closely as possible.
03
Do you fix the cracks around the window too?
Yes. Cracked joints around the opening are repointed as part of the job.
